Writer files case against 13B makers and R. Madhavan

Mr. Satyaprakash Mangtani, the founder and owner of The Script Gallery in Andheri, Mumbai has alleged that the story concept of recently released Madhavan – Neetu Chandra starrer 13B was his own and that he was planning to take BIG Pictures, the producers of spooky thriller 13B to the High Court. Now he has finally filed a suit against Adlabs Films Ltd., BIG Pictures, film 13B’s director Vikram K. Kumar and lead star of the film, R. Madhavan in the Bombay High Court for the infringement of the Copyright of his original registered script Unlucky 13 on which the movie 13 B was made illegally.

Mangtani’s claim is that for past 26 years he was working on his dream project that’s the 13B concept and was planning to make it into a splashy entertainer. Mangtani has been a script writer and also a member of Film Writers Association (FWA) and Indian Motion Producers Association (IMPAA) and also the founder member of The Script Gallery, Mumbai that claims to offer fresh and original scripts to Bollywood filmmakers. Mangtani claims that his original story was titled Unlucky 13 and was registered with the FWA, Mumbai on 5.01.1983 with number 17832 and same was registered on 16.10.2003 with number 96443 and again on 2.05.2006 with number 117292. Mangtani feels that the screenplay of the film as far as the promos go look quiet similar to his project. He feels the matter is of stealing, adopting or plagiarizing idea which he is working for last 26 years includes lot of research and hard work.

This is a very big infringement of copyright and as good as killing someone’s career and snatching away from Him his bread! The saddest part is that even Print and Electronic Media has kept mum on this sensitive issue, may because the offenders are a big corporate body with great political contacts under it’s belt. If such type of menace continues then such talented and intellectually creative people will never b able to show their real talent.

Being Human beings it’s our responsibility to stop such type of crimes and activities which acts as a big hindrance in the path of our own countrymen.
